What a pleasure meeting President George H. W. Bush when we both spoke at an international telecommunications conference. We only had a few seconds together, but he seemed like a nice man.
His speech was surprisingly funny. I don’t remember him being so amusing when he was in the White House.
Don Kurek took this great photo. As someone who records audio programs, it seemed to be an interesting way to “listen” to them. Mr. Kurek is a Detroit-based photographer and he’s taken many of my signature shots. I love working with him!
One of the earliest photo sessions I did with Don Kurek involved a merry-go-round. You don’t see many of these on playgrounds these days. Anyway, Don would position me on the wheel, then give the merry-go-round a push and climb aboard the other side.
It took a while to get a shot we both liked, but we had to work quickly because we were both getting motion sickness!
The idea of this shot was to arrange a business-like version of Salvatore Dali’s famous “Dali Atomicus” portrait from 1948.
I love how the light bulb–representing the Edison House logo–is reflected in the computer screen. Bravo, Don!
Love the angles in this live shot from a keynote I did in Los Angeles in 2008.
Speakers try to focus on what they say, but I try to give at least equal attention to how I say it and for that matter, what it looks like.
This photo is cool because of the honest fun in everyone’s faces. Love the smiles in all corners of the frame.
